Samsung Galaxy S8 is here and brings all that is expected of a mobile phone that aspires to lead the market but no revolutionary novelty that could jeopardize that leadership in case of failure. The South Korean brand wants to tread safe ground after the fiasco of Note 7 and has given its new flagship two key characteristics to restore user confidence: design and reliability. After the launch of Galaxy S8, the company started to focus on its next modish smartphone Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. The hearsay suggests that these upcoming flagships will come out in the sizes of 5.8” and 6.2” respectively.
According to the tittle-tattle, the stunning display of Galaxy S9 is just out of the world having a beautiful design concept of an all sided edge-to-edge display with AMOLED 4K screen protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 making the smartphone waterproof and dustproof with IP68 Mil standard.
DJ Koch, president of Samsung Mobile, was very humble at the premiere at Lincoln Center in New York: “We’ve learned important lessons. We are proud of this new era of design, a new era of mobiles”.
On the outside, the Galaxy S8 has extended its curved display to the limit, virtually eliminating the edges and frames, making the start button virtual and giving the fingerprint sensor new functions. Inside, it incorporates for the first time the combustion-proof batteries, able to perform the same tasks with less consumption thanks to the smallest processor in the market and with greater performance. And as strict novelties: facial recognition as a method of unblocking; the conversion of the mobile into a PC through the DeX support, and the virtual assistant Bixby. We could enjoy the same function in the Samsung Galaxy S9 with some other added functions like MU-MIMO – to communicate with multiple devices simultaneously; AF blaster – a brilliant device with which you can control other devices like TV, DVR, VCR by not using their original remote and much more.
The new Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone and its older brother Galaxy S8 + unveiled simultaneously in New York and London on Wednesday, will not disappoint any demanding users but will not fulfill the hopes of those seeking more radical or disruptive novelties. In defense of the Korean brand, none of its competitors have opted for strict innovation in its latest releases: neither Huawei, with its P10; Nor LG, with its G6; Let alone Apple, which has limited itself to dyeing your iPhone 7 red. It was also not the time for Samsung to jump into the void, but to repair the wounds caused by the failure of Galaxy Note 7. With the launch of Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ next year, Samsung manufacturers are trying to fulfill all those voids and terminate the disappointment of the users which they faced in case of the predecessors.
The price of the S8 is 809 € and the price of the S8 + 909 €. The expected price of upcoming rocking Galaxy S9 is totally acceptable if we take a look at its powerful features – Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC powered by 7nm FinFET technology – 997.428 USD.
